12 September 2025: Doing last minute prep for the roadtrip and getting the Jeep all loaded and ready to go. Tomorrow morning departure is at 5am, so as to be on time for the first ferry of the day from Port Jefferson NY to Bridgeport CT. It is going to be a very full day and everything needs to be set up tonight…
10 September 2025: Spent some time this week volunteering at a local wildlife rehab where I helped feed orphaned baby squirrels who need to be given formula multiple times a day. The little ones are so small they need to be fed with a syringe. But it’s great to see them growing stronger each day, and I hope they will all make it to a successful release once they are ready…
4 September 2025: Beginning to prepare for the upcoming roadtrip. Roasted some peppers on the grill tonight and tomorrow morning will peel them and add some garlic, salt and olive oil, then put them in a container in the fridge to take to the first base camp…
3 September 2025: Not quite a full moon, but a very bright one tonight. Was stunning as it rose up over the treeline in the early evening. Days are getting shorter and night falls even before we are ready to get dinner on the grill–a not so subtle reminder that summer is near an end…

USnomads.org is very proud to be presenting the fourth edition of the Nomad Overland Virtual Adventure Rally in 2025. This is a unique kind of rally experience — a ten week event that participants can do from anywhere within the continental U.S.A. Competitors design their own routes as part of the rally, then drive it in a points-based online competition that includes optional activity tasks, quests and weekly challenges. The 2025 rally will run from 2 June – 10 August and is open to any driver within the United States who has an off-road capable vehicle — stock or modified. Registration for 2025 is currently open.
