17 March 2018:<\/strong> Arrived in Paris this weekend to more snow. Seems there is no escaping the white stuff. Of course, it is actually quite beautiful blowing down over the rooftops in a flurry of wet flakes, and it is not sticking, so not really a problem. Still, it was a bit of a surprise for this late in March…

THE HOMELESS CRISIS IN PARIS<\/strong>
\n
\nThe numbers of homeless people sleeping on the streets in Paris has risen exponentially and visitors are often shocked by the grim poverty. Rows of tents lining the bank of the Canal St Martin are a striking reminder that the situation is only getting worse, despite policies put in place to ease the crisis. According to a report in The Local<\/a>, the increase in people sleeping outside is due in large part to the general financial crisis, and a lack of affordable housing. Refugees and economic migrants add to the numbers. Despite the addition of 13,000 extra places in emergency winter shelters, a large number of homeless remain on the streets in freezing cold weather. An estimate<\/a> based on a one-night census in February counts 3,000 people sleeping outdoors in Paris. This winter eleven homeless people have died<\/a> on the streets in January and February, the coldest months…
