23 April 2017:<\/strong> Last day out in the desert today, and stretching out the return taking the “back” way over sand and rock rather than the highway until we are almost back to Djanet. So hard to say goodbye to this special place and such a great team. The skies have cleared again and looks like flight out will take off tomorrow…

22 April 2017:<\/strong> We met with some of the nomad families that have been herding in this area for generations and spoke informally about their current concerns. While some areas of the UNESCO sites are blocked to nomadic herders, other lands are open and the families are able to graze their animals here. We were able to distribute some food to a few of the families and chat about their hopes for rain, as the sky darkened a bit…

Exciting to be able to explore a different part of this vast desert and connect with the local communities in the region. THE BLUE HEART CAMPAIGN<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nTeam Engage supports the UN\u2019s Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Human Trafficking and the Blue Heart Campaign<\/a> as their platform to raise awareness about global human trafficking\u2014 an issue which disproportionately effects women. Human trafficking is modern day slavery and includes sex trafficking (forced prostitution and forced marriage), labor trafficking (domestic servitude, sweatshops and fraudulent bonded labor contracts), child soldiers and organ trafficking. According to the International Labor Organization, nearly 21 million people or 3 out of every 1,000 people worldwide are victims of human trafficking. The UN Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Human Trafficking was established in 2010 and provides direct humanitarian, legal and financial aid to human trafficking victims. They provide grants to small grassroot NGOs that directly assist victims with housing, food, legal aid, access to justice, psychosocial support, medical care and training.
