10 March 2026:<\/strong> The weather has finally eased up enough to get outside and the snow has mostly melted. I took advantage of the first nice day to go for a short hike at the Weld Sanctuary, one of my favorite nearby trails that leads to the beach. When I got to the beach the water was so calm and everything was just perfectly quiet and still — such a contrast to the harsh winter storms and winds that made it impossible to get outdoors for most of the last three months \u2026<\/p>\n

Figuring out how to use the game cameras\u2026<\/strong><\/h6>\n

9 March 2026:<\/strong> During the expedition we will be placing game cameras to hopefully capture some footage of a snow leopard. As I have never used these trail cams before, I decided to get some “practice” in trying to set it up in the backyard. It’s taken a little while to figure out the right height, distance and angle \u2026<\/p>\n

8 March 2026:<\/strong> Finalized the route planning and got the paper maps all marked up. Still working on putting together a solid roadbook for the journey, and taking care of other planning tasks that I hope will make things go smoother when I get to China, as we only have a relatively short time with a long list of things we would like to accomplish. Solid planning can make the operation “leaner” and more efficient\u2026<\/p>\n

7 March 2026:<\/strong> As D-Day approaches the excitement is definitely building. Ordering last minute items, reviewing the packing list, and starting to test equipment and set ups. It seems like it is so close and yet still so far off\u2026<\/p>\n

\nUSnomads.org is very proud to be presenting the fifth edition of the Nomad Rally<\/a> in 2026. This is a unique kind of rally experience — a ten week event that participants can do from anywhere within the continental U.S.A. Competitors design their own routes as part of the rally, then drive it in a points-based online competition that includes optional activity tasks, quests and weekly challenges. The 2026 rally will run from 8 June – 17 August and is open to any driver within the United States who has an off-road capable vehicle — stock or modified. Registration for 2026 is currently open.
