NY: The Museum of American Armor\u2026<\/h5>\n

Re-enacting a WWII Battle\u2026<\/strong><\/h6>\n


<\/p>\n

16 Novmeber 2025:<\/strong> Joined volunteers from the Museum of American Armor in Bethpage, NY, for a battle re-enactment as part of the museum’s “Armor Experience” fundraiser. The re-enactment centered on the first days of the Allied invasion of Normandy, and gave the opportunity to get vehicles from the museum’s collection out into the field in a demonstration of a concerted tank battle, supported by infantry all as part of a mechanized infantry unit of the 2nd Armor Division. Great detail was paid to authenticity and getting history “right” in the telling of the story, and it was a great way to revisit the specifics of what the troops faced on a micro level. The museum runs these re-enactments periodically throughout the year as well as other programs that aim to educate the public and honor all veterans \u2026<\/p>\n

8 November 2025:<\/strong> Made the drive into Manhattan for the first time in a long time this evening to meet up with a friend visiting from Paris. It was strange to be seeing the city like a tourist after being away for so long. And while so much has changes, so much remains familiar, and I realized I hadn’t forgotten my way. Was nice to be back, even if only for one night\u2026<\/p>\n

Caught the Beaver Moon\u2026<\/strong><\/h6>\n


<\/p>\n

5 November 2025:<\/strong> Was a nice night for a fire in the fire pit while I awaited the rising of the Beaver moon. The Beaver Moon is the traditional name for the full moon in November, supposedly named because it’s when beavers are busiest building dams and stocking food for winter, and also when beaver traps were set for their valuable pelts during the North American fur trade. It symbolizes readiness for winter, hard work, and harmony with nature, often appearing larger and brighter as it’s a “supermoon,” one of the closest full moons to Earth\u2026<\/p>\n
