A Free Day to Catch Up\u2026<\/strong><\/h6>\n

31 March 2022:<\/strong> I was “off” today and used the day to “sleep in” at camp and just relax and appreciate being in Death Valley without guiding or scouting, just enjoying a favorite desert space. It felt nice to just wander around a little and make a relaxed dinner on the grill. Getting “recharged” and ready to be back on point tomorrow \u2026<\/p>\n

The Goldpoint Run\u2026<\/strong><\/h6>\n


<\/p>\n

30 March 2022:<\/strong> Had a full group for the Goldpoint run today and was glad we had done the pre-run and set up the modified route. It all went well apart from the fact that the owner of the saloon had forgotten that we were coming and nothing was ready when we got there. Luckily the ghosttown itself is the real attraction and people were able to check out the different sites and do some exploring while I helped the owner get the food ready. Eventually we all ate and got back on the trail taking the more interesting driving route back\u2026<\/p>\n

29 March 2022:<\/strong> The Death Valley Experience opened up today, with registration and set up for the participants all day in the parking area across from Furnace Creek. We were given the last details on our guiding assignments and lists of participants and will be running our first trails of the event in the morning.\u2026<\/p>\n

28 March 2022:<\/strong> Took care of resupplying and made it to Texas Springs early enough to get a campsite! Got my tent set up and got everything organized to be ready for the official start of the Second Annual Death Valley Experience tomorrow\u2026<\/p>\n

27 March 2022:<\/strong> Left Arizona and spent the day on the road in a bit of a marathon drive to make it to Parhrump Nevada by evening. From Pahrump I can resupply in the morning and head in to Death Valley early enough to hopefully score a campsite at Texas Springs — I don’t really like that campground, but it is much closer to the main events for the Death Valley Experience, and is just more practical\u2026<\/p>\n

We will be road tripping south and then west, with some stops planned in Louisiana and Texas, before honing in on Arizona, SoCal and Nevada for a month or so…

\nEvery Day Is a Clean Up Day<\/a> in 2021. Ladies Offroad Network<\/a> has partnered with TreadLightly!<\/a> to create a year-long program that encourages members to pick up trash on the trails whenever they are out off-roading. Participants simply pick up the trash, weigh it, take a photo, and log the location and time it took, then upload the details. At the end of the year there will be a series of prizes based on pounds of trash removed from the trails as well as participation in other TreadLightly! initiatives. This is a great way to do some good on a local level and make a larger impact via the national program…

\nAdvanced sand dune training with Barlow Adventures<\/a> at the Imperial Sand Dunes in southern California. This three day driving and navigation program focuses on moving safely and effectively through large dunefields. Skills-building exercises are intended to improve pace, line choice and vehicle control, as well as developing precision map and compass navigation technique…

\nTrail Guiding for the California 4-Wheel Drive Association’s second annual Death Valley Experience<\/a> fundraiser event running March 30-April 2, 2022. Each day will feature a choice of runs to some famous, some infamous and some secretive points of interest within Death Valley National Park. The runs will depart from Furnace Creek and from Stovepipe Wells. Some of the points of interest we will visit during Death Valley Experience 2022 include Zabriskie Point (famous), Barker Ranch (infamous) and the Racetrack (learn the secret of the moving rocks). Other points of interest include Dante\u2019s View, 20 Mule Team Canyon, Artists\u2019 Drive, Chloride Cliffs, Aguereberry Point, Skidoo, Titus Canyon, and Darwin Falls. All of the trail runs are suitable for novice drivers and SUVs with high clearance and 4-wheel drive…
