Focused on trying to identify specific peaks in ranges where they essentially all look alike. It was about really trying to see the nuances of the topo map contour lines. We also took some time to just appreciate the beauty of the place, stopping to watch the sun set over Death Valley from Dante&#8217;s View\u2026<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><br><\/p>\n<h5>NV: Ash Meadows\u2026<\/h5>\n<p><br><img src=\"http:\/\/usnomadstudio.com\/usnomads\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/SW_Sep2021-RebelleTraining_0928-AshMeadows_Biullwinkleindesertwithtires_IMG_0407_1200w-1024x768.jpg\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-13662\" \/><\/p>\n<h6><strong>Our first desert team practice \u2026<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p><br><\/p>\n<p><strong>28 September 2021:<\/strong> Today we got Bullwinkle out into the desert for the first time to do some team training in the kind of terrain we will be in for the rally. The Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge is just outside Death Valley and has a series of dirt roads with some nice identifiable terrain features that make it a great &#8220;first&#8221; day of real rally practice\u2026<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><br><\/p>\n<h5>NV: Pahrump\u2026<\/h5>\n<p><br><img src=\"http:\/\/usnomadstudio.com\/usnomads\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/SW_Sep2021-RebelleTraining_0928-AshMeadows_Biullwinklewithdustbehind_IMG_0357_1200w-1024x768.jpg\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-13663\" \/><\/p>\n<h6><strong>Team 127 gets together in Pahrump \u2026<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p><br><\/p>\n<p><strong>27 September 2021:<\/strong> Team 127 met up in Pahrump for a pre-Rally week of training together with Bullwinkle out in the Nevada desert. We have some navigation exercises planned, and even a few &#8220;roadbook&#8221; challenges to work on. The week will also give us some time to get familiar with each other and build a good communication rapport inside the Jeep\u2026<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><br><\/p>\n<h5>UT to NV: Fremont Indian State Park\u2026<\/h5>\n<p><br><img src=\"http:\/\/usnomadstudio.com\/usnomads\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/SW_Sep-Oct2021-0926_UT-FremontIndianSP_Petroglyphsontrailoverlookinghighway_IMG_0261_1200w-1024x768.jpg\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-13664\" \/><\/p>\n<h6><strong>The last leg to Pahrump\u2026<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p><br><\/p>\n<p><strong>26 September 2021:<\/strong> Continued the drive through Utah into Nevada with a stop at the Fremont Indian State Park to see some rock art and learn more about the ancestral puebloan heritage in the area. The park houses artifacts that were found when construction crews dug up an ancient village site to build the Interstate highway. Archaeologists and Native American community members worked together to save as much of the site as they could, documenting everything and removing objects into an interpretive display at the park. The plan is to take the slow road from Arizona to New York with a few fun detours along the way&#8230;<br><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/usnomadstudio.com\/usnomads\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Screen-Shot-2021-02-15-at-5.20.02-PM-300x248.png\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-13109\" \/><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ladiesoffroadnetwork.com\/2021-tread-lightly\/\">Every Day Is a Clean Up Day<\/a> in 2021. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ladiesoffroadnetwork.com\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Ladies Offroad Network<\/a> has partnered with <a href=\"https:\/\/treadlightly.org\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">TreadLightly!<\/a> to create a year-long program that encourages members to pick up trash on the trails whenever they are out off-roading. Participants simply pick up the trash, weigh it, take a photo, and log the location and time it took, then upload the details. At the end of the year there will be a series of prizes based on pounds of trash removed from the trails as well as participation in other TreadLightly! initiatives. This three day driving and navigation program focuses on moving safely and effectively through large dunefields. Skills-building exercises are intended to improve pace, line choice and vehicle control, as well as developing precision map and compass navigation technique&#8230;<br><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/usnomadstudio.com\/usnomads\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/dve-save-the-date-instagram-300x300.png\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-13102\" \/><br \/>\nTrail Guiding for the California 4-Wheel Drive Association&#8217;s second annual <a href=\"https:\/\/cal4wheel.com\/death-valley-experience\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Death Valley Experience<\/a> fundraiser event running in March. Each day will feature a choice of runs to some famous, some infamous and some secretive points of interest within Death Valley National Park. The runs will depart from Furnace Creek and from Stovepipe Wells. Some of the points of interest we will visit during Death Valley Experience 2021 include Zabriskie Point (famous), Barker Ranch (infamous) and the Racetrack (learn the secret of the moving rocks). Other points of interest include Dante\u2019s View, 20 Mule Team Canyon, Artists\u2019 Drive, Chloride Cliffs, Aguereberry Point, Skidoo, Titus Canyon, and Darwin Falls. All of the trail runs are suitable for novice drivers and SUVs with high clearance and 4-wheel drive&#8230;<br><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/usnomadstudio.com\/usnomads\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/adventure-logo-design-black-white-vintage-style-inspiration-174999419-300x300.jpg\"  class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-13534\" \/><br \/>\nStay tuned for a new kind of exciting adventure coming up in Summer 2022.
