6 October 2018:<\/strong> An interesting time out on the Nissequogue River orienteering by kayak, in a fun Orienteering USA<\/a> “Kayak-O” event put on by the Long Island Orienteering club. Navigating the small river with map and compass to find the hidden “controls” within islands of weeds and twisting inlets was more challenging then it seemed at first — particularly as it was hard to read the map and paddle at the same time, resulting in a lot of “drifting” into the masses of weeds that create the river’s labyrinths. But felt good to find all the CPs and make it in to “base” with time to spare…
